After a LOT of driving and a little relaxing in Richland, we finally arrived in Spokane around the beginning of August. With our incredible moving crew (2 brothers, 1 sister, mom, dad, and 3 guys from our new ward + us = 10!) moving in took only 30 minutes or so (is that a record somewhere?!) Then it was just a matter of unpacking all the boxes and finding new homes for everything.

Since moving up here we’ve started to find our way around a little better.
We met our neighbors….haha.
That merits a story as well.
So a week or two after moving in we were in bed and dead asleep when Joe woke me up around midnight saying, “someone’s knocking at our door!”
There was a slight edge of panic in his voice and my heart started racing.
This was no rappity tap tap, this was more of a pounding.
It didn’t help that we were already a little paranoid about the fact that we no longer live in happy valley mormonville - provo, ut.
So as I’m sitting straight up in bed I’m half celebrating that it’s the man’s job to go check on these kinds of things, and half freaking out over a million little scenarios of what could happen next.
Being woken up at midnight + pounding on your door + not thinking straight + not living in provo anymore = pure panic.
So Joe peers though our peep hole, sees nothing, and comes back to bed.
A second later, more pounding.
Joe goes back, peers through the hole to see someone fidgeting with our doorknob.
??!!!??!!!?!?!?
Yeah.
So he grabs the lock and holds it while this lady puts a key in and twists trying to open our door.
Ahhhhhhhhhhh.
Good thing I didn’t know any of this until later or I would have freaked.
Oh wait I was already freaking out.
So anyway, after a few moments of not being able to open our door, the lady disappears into the door next to ours and comes back with a piece of paper that she shoves under our door.
Joe pulls it out and it says “You left your keys in your door.
I put them
inside your house under your doormat.
Your neighbor.”
So now we’re feeling very relieved and very silly.
She was apparently trying to open our door so she could stick our keys inside.
Have we learned our lesson about leaving our keys in the door?
Absolutely we have.
Other than that little incident, we’ve been having a lot of fun up here.
We went boating with my family in Richland, met lots of people in our new ward and went on a ward campout at Liberty Lake, which by the way is absolutely beautiful!
We have been on bike rides along the Spokane River and done lots of exploring.
We’ve even been to the Spokane temple a few times, which is also absolutely beautiful.
All in all we’re enjoying a little time off before we start up school and work again, and squeezing the most out of summer before it leaves us.
